Beschreibung |
The studio will focus on the design of a university campus building and its immediate surrounding, the architecture will result from the dialogue and relationship to the campus and the urban environment. The aim of the project will be to investigate concepts of campus buildings including their public space. The Designs will not necessarily concern an entire building, depending on the situation; students will possibly elaborate a critical part of the campus building such as a lobby, a roof, a basement, a plaza or an interior circulation. One of three campus situations can be chosen: one in 'splendid isolation', one submerged in the city fabric and one dominating a small town. After a short-exercise (1 week) and a masterplan conducted in groups (4 weeks), the project will be developed individually (10 weeks). The production will include models, collages and drawings, amongst others medias. Der Fokus liegt auf dem Entwurf eines Gebäudes auf einem Universitätscampus unter Einbezug dessen unmittelbarer Umgebung. Die Architektur resultiert aus der Beziehung zum Campus und zur Stadt. Ziel des Studios ist Konzepte von öffentlichen Räumen in Gebäuden zu erforschen. Bei dem Projekt geht es nicht unbedingt darum ein ganzes Gebäude zu entwerfen, sondern, situationsbedingt könnten Studierende sich auf entscheidende Teile eines Gebäudes konzentrieren, wie den Eingangsbereich, das Dach, das Sockelgeschoss, den Vorplatz oder die innere Erschließung. Für den Campus bieten wir drei verschiedene Orte zur Auswahl: eine isolierte, eine innerstädtische und eine Situation in welcher der Campus eine Kleinstadt dominiert. Nach einem Kurzentwurf (1 Woche) und einem Masterplan in Gruppenarbeit (4 Wochen), kann der Entwurf in Einzelarbeit fertiggestellt werden (10 Wochen). Darstellungs- und Arbeitsmethoden durch Modelle, Collagen, Zeichnungen und andere Medien. |

Lernziele |
The first aim of the studio is to allow a shift of focus on architecture, to see the buildings from the outside and their relation both to the exterior and to the public interest. This displacement opens new fields of possibilities for architecture. It is also about providing the students with the necessary understanding to consider public space as an architectural project itself in order to liberate the same creative process that they already have considered for building design. |
