Beschreibung des Entwurfs-programmes |
The FS2016 Landscape Architecture Design Studio of Prof. Christophe Girot investigates existing and future topologies in the Venetian Lagoon and will look more particularly at the development of the Certosa Island. The design work will follow the precepts of a sitespecific approach with an emphasis on precise landscape modeling of the island with a tidal park towards the northern mudflat in response to the adjacent city of Venice. It will address the challenge in both architectural design and landscape modeling in a dynamic waterscape influenced by tides and seasonal changes. The prime concern is the study and manipulation of local topography developing an urban park on a moving limit between land and water. The park does not only represent the main maritime entrance to the city of Venice, it will also stand for an innovative solution on how to work with the risks and challenges of raising waters along coastal regions. |

Lernziele |
This design project gives students the opportunity to develop their theoretical knowledge and design skills in the area of landscape architecture. During the studio, students will elaborate a site specific strategy both at an architectural and landscape architectural level, through an evolving landscape design that incorporates the dynamics of water systems with topography, vegetation and human activities. Analogue tools will alternate with computer tools (CNC modelling, 3D visualisation) to develop tangible and precise landscape structures at various stages and scales. During the semester, skills in CAAD-CAM will be developed in order to familiarise students with the design of topographically responsive interventions. The combined means of architectural and landscape representation with regard to fluctuating water levels will help define new urban landscape typologies in the Venetian Lagoon. |
