AGRITOPIA—Building a Model for Zürich Nord

Beschreibung
des Entwurfs-programmes

“Be realistic, demand the impossible” TASK = AGRITOPIA We will create an Agritopia, a utopian vision for the agricultural territories of Zürich Nord for the year 2100. SITE = CITY EDGE OF ZÜRICH NORD The agricultural landscape that borders the city of Zurich and the communes of Rümlang and Regensdorf, with the Katzensee in its centre. DESIGN METHOD = LARGE TERRITORIAL MODEL Together, we will be building a large territorial model (ca. 4x4m) of Agritopia during the course of the semester, using various materials and scales to depict our visions of the changing landscape and human practice. RESEARCH METHOD = FIELD WORK Investigative field work will be essential during the semester. There will be no integrated seminar week, but we will work actively on the site. During common field days, invited agricultural pioneers and experts will guide us through the territory, including visits to the various hamlets, farms and projects in Zürich Nord. Throughout the whole semester, students will conduct independent fieldwork in the respective student groups.
